About GEC
The growth bridge between energy technology and regional opportunity.
GEC – Gabr Energy Consultancy is an Egypt-headquartered, founder-led business development consultancy for international energy OEMs.
Who we are
A commercial growth partner for energy OEMs.
GEC helps international manufacturers and technology providers identify, develop and win business across the Middle East and Africa, especially where they don’t yet have a local presence.
We combine more than 16 years of experience in the region’s energy industry with focused, hands-on market development. For an OEM, that means a more flexible, lower-fixed-cost way to explore and build a market than setting up a full local organisation from day one.
What we are, and what we’re not
We are a commercial growth partner. We know the technology well enough to spot the right opportunities, ask the right questions and run productive technical conversations. Engineering, technical proposals and solution design stay with you, the OEM, or with qualified specialist partners. We don’t resell equipment, hold stock or carry competing brands.
How we operate
Four principles behind every engagement.
- Senior attentionEvery engagement is led personally by our founder.
- Flexible arrangementsScope and terms fitted to your market maturity and priorities.
- Clear rolesWe’re always transparent about what GEC does and what your team or partners do.
- Measurable activityPipeline, meetings and progress you can track, not just introductions.
Founder
Abdelrahman Gabr
A mechanical power engineer with more than 16 years in the energy industry.
Most of his career has focused on gas turbine inlet air filtration for utility-scale power generation, national electricity producers, oil and gas companies and other industrial gas turbine operators. More recently he has worked in waste heat to power and the wider energy-efficiency and energy-transition market.
Before founding GEC, he held technical sales and business development roles with international manufacturers including CLARCOR Industrial Air (now part of Parker Hannifin), American Air Filter (AAF, a Daikin company) and Orcan Energy.
That career gave him three things GEC brings to every OEM: product literacy, an understanding of how regional end users operate and buy, and long-standing relationships across utilities, oil and gas and heavy industry in Egypt and the Gulf.
Note on the founder’s experience: the companies named above are the founder’s former employers. They are not GEC clients, and their projects are not GEC projects.
